It’s a Girl!

1 placental abruption.

1 dash to the hospital.

19 nights on the High Risk Maternity Floor.

35 weeks and 4 days of pregnancy culminating in

1 call to Husband and

4 words: “My water just broke.”

A 3rd c-section.

1 baby girl.

Born 1 week ago.

6 lbs., 8 oz. and 19 1/4 inches of healthy, snuggly pink magic.

And, with a single look at her, a reminder that numbers don’t always matter so much.

She’s here.  Our daughter is here.

So I won’t be.  Here, that is.  Not for awhile at least.

I’m taking maternity leave.

But I’ll be back soon with more musings and new tales of Big Brother (i.e. the artist formerly known as Big Boy), Little Brother (née Tiny Baby), and our newest addition, Baby Sister.

In the meantime, be well.  Wish us luck.  And stay tuned.

  39. Oh, how this makes me smile and smile and smile some more as I sit here typing late at night, reaching my arms around my vast belly so they reach the keys, waiting for my own little girl to arrive. We have so much to chat about – baby pinks and baby blues, maternity leaves, and so much else. But for now, know that I am so unbelievably happy for you and your bigger brood.

    Aidan
